Candidates need to be licensed as a school counselor with the Vermont Agency of Education (or eligible for licensure) with experience in: Using skills to work with teachers parents and the school community to support student academic success. Creating and using diverse and innovative student support systems within the school with connections to the wider community. Selecting and interpreting data with direction toward a comprehensive guidance/school counseling program. Demonstrating commitment to high academic expectations for all students. Designing implementing and evaluating a standardsbased guidance program to help all students develop selfunderstanding and personal competence including the ability to make healthy and informed choices to develop productive and satisfying relationships and to resolve conflicts effectively. Knowing how to work cooperatively and respectfully with all families to support students learning and development. Understanding the supporting teachers as advisors and advocates for students in the learning process. Designing and implementing student behavior interventions and support plans.
