Job Description

Job Posting Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Life the Campus Life Specialist is a fulltime professional staff position that manages programs designed to foster student learning development enhance community building and promote student retention. The Specialist collaborates with the larger Campus Life team and numerous student employees plans implements and assesses campus wide programming and advises student organizations in planning implementing and assessing programs.

The Campus Life Specialist should be a high energy positive role model who is committed to student affairs leadership education and the specific needs of our key populations (e.g. undergraduate graduate residential commuters & transfer students). The position involves high student contact and evening and weekend hours are frequent. This position is a live on position and will support in Residential Life professional staff duty rotation.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Develop implement and administer cocurricular programs plans policies and services such as student leadership programming commuter programs late night and weekend activities and College traditions
  • Assists Campus Life team in planning implementing and managing larger campus events including but not limited to New Student Orientation FirstYear Experience and peer leader/mentoring programming. Assists with all Commencement events
  • Provides advice and assistance to student groups in such areas as organizational analysis team building strategic planning leadership time management and problem resolution
  • Reviews student club/org requests and authorizes use campus space; determines security health and safety insurance and permit requirements for facilities usage; submits food requests and necessary requisitions
  • Coordinates and monitors aspects of cocurricular student training programs; evaluates content format and objectives; delivers group and individual instructional training as appropriate
  • Designs develops and oversees implementation of relevant marketing strategies and initiatives directed at students prospective students faculty staff and/or the general public; edits and coordinates production and distribution of a range of promotional publications including social media and semesterly activities calendar
  • Assists in the planning of student personnel which includes work allocation training promotion enforcement of internal procedures and controls and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Submits room reservation requests/facilities work orders for Campus Life events and student clubs/organizations
  • Provides support to campus users in regard to Mercys student engagement platform
  • Assists with club budget oversight and management
  • Support Assistant Director in all aspects of the management of Campus Life
  • Live on position and will support in Residential Life professional staff duty rotation
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Professional experience within a college or university setting in the areas of student affairs student activities or residential life
  • Must demonstrate skills in advising a diverse group of students
  • Possess the ability to work collaboratively and have knowledge of student development theory practices
  • Willingness to travel between campuses for events and some evening or weekend work may be needed based on Campus Life events
