At Axia Recruitment we are excited to partner with West Coast Wilderness Railway (WCWR) in the search for an Infrastructure Asset Managera role that blends leadership strategy and handson expertise in one of Tasmanias most iconic heritage rail operations.

Its 8:00 AM in Queenstown Tasmania and youre stepping onto a heritage railway that has stood the test of time. As the Infrastructure Asset Manager youre not just maintaining tracksyoure preserving history and driving the future of one of Tasmanias most unique tourism experiences.

In your first few weeks youll immerse yourself in strategy and handson leadership working alongside a tightknit infrastructure team to ensure the railways longevity and compliance. Youll develop a 10year infrastructure strategy oversee maintenance operations and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the railway remains safe efficient and operational.

But this isnt just about keeping trains running.
Youll play a key role in shaping infrastructure policy leading a skilled team and ensuring WCWRs engineering and compliance meet national standards. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability this is your chance to leave a lasting impact on Tasmanias tourism and transport industries.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead rail infrastructure maintenance and asset management strategies.
  • Develop and execute a 10year infrastructure maintenance plan.
  • Oversee track inspections compliance and risk assessments.
  • Manage a small but skilled team ensuring strong leadership without micromanagement.
  • Work with government bodies contractors and engineers to ensure WCWR meets all rail safety and WH&S standards.
  • Implement emerging technologies to improve asset sustainability and efficiency.

What You Bring:

  • 10 years of experience in rail maintenance infrastructure renewals or civil engineering.
  • Proven strategic planning and leadership skills in infrastructure asset management.
  • Strong knowledge of WH&S Australian rail safety standards and compliance.
  • Handson experience managing budgets projects and technical infrastructure teams.
  • A practical problemsolving mindset with an ability to work autonomously.
