Schedule: 40hrs: MonFri
Qualifications required at hire and/or upgrade are:
1. One years experience in a health care field as a counselor educator clinical assistant outreach worker or home health aide.
2. High school diploma or G.E.D.
3. Interest in nutrition or health care.
4. Good communications skills in both oral and written English.
5. Ability to speak Portuguese preferred
6. Good interpersonal skills.
7. Sensitivity to the needs of the WIC population.
8. Availability to work at multiple WIC sites and during program clinic hours as needed.
NA CPA I: Provides nutrition services to lowrisk child applicants and participants.
Responsibilities include:
1. Completes and receives acceptable status on all components activities and posttests of the CPA I Training Program to obtain CPA I status.
AFTER OBTAINING CPA I STATUS:
2. Provides nutrition care for lowrisk children at certification and followup including all aspects of:
Anthropometric and hematological data collection.
Dietary and nutritional risk assessment.
Food package assignment.
Counseling and education.
Documentation and nutrition data entry.
Health and social service referrals.
Followup nutrition education.
3. Performs other duties as needing including participating in quality assurance activities.
NA CPA II: Provides nutrition services to lowrisk applicants and participants in all categories of eligibility (infants children prenatal breastfeeding and postpartum women).
Responsibilities include:
1. Completion and receipt of acceptable status on all components activities and posttests of the CPA II Training Program to obtain CPA II status.
AFTER OBTAINING NA CPA II STATUS:
2. Provides nutrition care for lowrisk women infants and children at certification and followup (as defined in the risk criteria) including all aspects of:
Anthropometric and hematological data collection.
Dietary and nutritional risk assessment.
Food prescription assignment.
Nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education.
Documentation and nutrition data entry.
Health and social service referrals.
Followup nutrition education.
3. Assists in the planning and development of education materials and group nutrition education activities.
4. Performs other duties as needed including participating in quality assurance activities.
