Other Conditions: For placement in lecturer pool beginning Fall 2024 Spring 2025 and Summer 2025. Positions are parttime temporary nontenure and contingent upon course offerings sufficient student enrollment position clearance and availability of funding. Must be available to teach courses during the day evening weekend and/or via distance learning as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct lectures and labs in the Hawaiian Studies includes instruction through the medium of Hawaiian when required.
  2. Maintain a minimum of 1 office hour per week for each course taught up to 5 office hours per week.
  3. Prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  4. Commitment to Kumu Honua Mauli Ola educational philosophy of the College.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Masters degree in Hawaiian Studies or related field from an accredited college or university or any combination of education/training/experience that equates to this credential for purposes of providing instruction in Hawaiian Studies (e.g. Bachelors degree with relevant certifications or a minimum of four years of experience in the appropriate subject area).
  2. Potential or demonstrated ability to teachcourses.
  3. Fluency to instruct applicable Hawaiian language and culture course through the medium of Hawaiian.

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated highquality instruction and teaching effectiveness at the college level.
  2. Experience in teaching through the medium of Hawaiian.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with effectively with university or college age students.
