Organisation: London Borough of Waltham Forest

Salary: MGLEC 28.33 - 37.94 per hour (pro rata salary 26786 - 35875 including London Allowance)

Contract Type: Full-time and Permanent

Working hours per week:Hours available range from 5 hours a week upwards and could be daytime evenings and/or Saturdays. Classes are delivered at a range of venues across the borough.

About the role:

Waltham Forest Adult Learning Service is the local authoritys direct provider of adult education and work-based training. Officially rated as Good following our OFSTED inspection in December 2022 we are on a journey to Outstanding.

To ensure we are successful in the next stage of our journey we are seeking experienced and qualified ESOL subject specialists to become part of our team. We are looking for part-time lecturers who are passionate about their subject and can raise achievement through motivating challenging and inspiring our return we can offer a flexible programme to meet your work/life balance needs with plenty of support and mentoring if required within a friendly and welcoming team.

You will need to have a minimum of two years teaching experience relevant subject specific and teaching qualifications with a proven track record in preparing learners for ESOL Skills for Life exams and developing emerging literacy digital and maths skills. We are particularly interested to see lecturers with experience of teaching ESOL Level 1 and Level 2.

Person Specification Knowledge Skills and Experience Relevant teaching or training experience Experience of actively developing equal opportunities Experience of working effectively as a team Experience of teaching mixed ability learners in a range of client groups Substantial subject specific experience Able to plan and deliver training sessions to meet external quality standards including required record-keeping Able to prepare high quality teaching materials Able to communicate well orally and in writing Good level of organisational and planning skills Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends Able to work in a range of different venues within the borough Ability to relate to a wide range of client groups Ability to adapt educational or training provision to meet the needs of people with learning difficulties disabilities and/or additional learning support needs Computer literacy ability to use a range of e-learning technology Awareness of the quality assurance requirements of Ofsted Understanding of how to promote inclusive learning and widening participation objectives

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position you should meet the following requirements:

To have achieved English and maths qualifications at level 2 or above or be committed to
achieving these qualifications within the first year of teaching for the service
To have or to be prepared to work towards achieving am introductory level 3 post 16 teaching
qualification within one year of start date
CELTA or equivalent
Possess or be working towards internal quality assurer award or equivalent
