Create die layouts and die designs and translate design intent into required manufacturing process to complete a lineup of automotive stamping tools.
Create/modify surfaces to accommodate spring back and surface changes by using morphing and/or surfacing tools on CAD systems.
Determine machining process and define areas of dies to be machined.
Provide technical support to FEA Team / Program Management Tooling and Sales Departments throughout the die manufacturing process.
Maintain documentation record of complete die program.
Prepare reports and communicate all required information to appropriate parties as required or applicable.
Responsible for applicable QMS policies procedures and work instructions.
Perform other reasonable duties as required and assigned.
Responsible to carry out duties for Health Safety and Environment in accordance with the HS&E Agreement for Employees Addendum
Work with Outsource Design vendors / RFQ Outside Design vendors / Source Outside Design vendors
Drive Customer Design reviews.
Drive Standard changes.
Drive Premanufacturing review.
Release All Designs for Manufacturing
Check Die Designs form external Vendors.
Design dies internally when required.
Prepare packaging studies for quote stage.
Work on all Design related issues raised by the Rework System.
Drive on going Improvement initiatives.
Completion of degree or certificate program in Technical/Mechanical Engineering Program or equivalent
Knowledge of automotive sheet metal stamping
Full working knowledge of diesurfacing using Catia or equivalent software
Knowledge of CAM CNC machining and die making methods an asset
Experience in reverse engineering from scan meshes (STL data) considered an asset
Good communication skills interpersonal and organizational skills required
Ability to interpret blueprints or die process & solid designs required.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
