Marblehead Public SchoolsESY Instructional Assistant 17**THIS IS A SUMMER POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY** PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Extended School Year (ESY) is a Special Education program for students with disabilities whose IEP team has determined that in order to minimize substantial regression and reduce substantial recoupment time a student is required to attend ESY. These services will be based upon the individual needs of the students per their IEP goals/objectives. These IA positions are for PreK Elementary Middle and High School roles. REPORTS TO: Position reports to the ESY Director and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services PROGRAM SCHEDULE: The instructional hours for students are 4 hours per day 34 days per week for 5 weeks from July 7 to August 7 2025. The Instructional Assistant is expected to:Work all assigned days of the program. Support the lead teacher s lessons to prepare for rigorous structured reading instruction.RESPONSIBILITIES: An ESY (Extended School Year) special education instructional assistant supports students with special needs during the summer months assisting teachers in implementing IEPs managing behavior and providing individualized instruction and support for students academic and personal care needs. Assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans. Prepare and organize learning materials and activitiesAssist with the presentation of learning materials and activities.Establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected.Supervise safe arrival and dismissal of all students assigned to their classroom.Maintain timely student attendance and progress records.Assist in maintaining a positive and safe learning environment. Support students with behavioral challenges implementing positive behavioral interventions and strategies. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to address behavioral concerns. Assist with toileting feeding and positioning of students as needed. Assist with medicalrelated duties as necessary. Assist with physical movement of students from one learning environment to another. Performs other related duties as requested by the ESY Site Coordinator or Assistant Superintendent of Student ServicesQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Massachusetts Educator Licensure in Moderate Disabilities preferredCurrent Safety Care certification. preferredCurrent authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:MPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom school and district culture and diversity.
