Job Description
Please note that this is a hybrid position 3 days per week in office 2 days WFH) in our Detroit area office. We are not considering candidates outside of the Detroit Metro area at this time.
HJH Investments is seeking a Property Accountant as a fulltime addition to our team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for schedule flexibility in a relaxed teamcentric environment. The Property Accountant handles daytoday accounting and finance functions for a portfolio of commercial properties and will:
- Process Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactions.
- Reconcile general ledger transactions and perform necessary journal entries on assigned properties.
- Reconcile tenant recoveries including CAM taxes and insurance.
- Review post and monitor tenant bill backs.
- Provide professional responsive accounting support to internal customers property managers tenants and vendors.
- Input tenants and set up new properties in Appfolio.
- Assist with financial planning and analysis including budgets and forecast.
To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who:
- Has strong analytical financial and data management skills
- 14 years of experience in Commercial Property Management and/or Real Estate Development Accounting required.
- Appfolio or comparable property management software is preferred but not required.
- Has strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Is an excellent collaborator and communicator both written and verbal.
- Is selfdisciplined and exercises good judgment.
- Is a multitasker who can drive results while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Is proactive in problemsolving taking on new projects and designing better processes.
- Is motivated with a desire to learn and grow within this role and the organization.
