JOB SUMMARY: Performs diagnostic and therapeutic age appropriate Nuclear Medicine procedures by utilizing equipment and computers in accordance with accepted standards of practice and to administer radioactive material accurately in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associates degree (or TwoYear Professional Program) from an AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology. LICENSURE CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist with NMTCB or certificate eligible. Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the ARRT or registry eligible. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills interpersonal relationships and team building. Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures. Participates in departmental inservice and educational offerings. Contributes to the overall quality of services. 2. Ensures readiness of equipment and supplies for procedures and emergencies. 3. Performs and assists in performing procedures and/or diagnostic tests and/or therapeutic exams using skilled techniques and following prescribed safety regulations and established protocols. 4. Maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and uptodate departmental records and/or reports. 5. Coordinates activities with others to accomplish work objectives. 6. Provides instruction education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote improved quality of patient care. 7. Provides emergency oncall coverage after normal working hours. 8. Minimizes radiation exposure and provides safety to patients/employees. 9. Prepares radiopharmaceutical compounds for patient administration. 10. Provides age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with Age/Development Specific Guidelines for the specific age groups served when participating in patient care. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of clinical computer systems Ability to organize work activities through prioritizing and scheduling the appropriate manner WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works with highly technical and sensitive equipment Works with radioactive materials Exposure to moderate noise Provides patient care in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable and bloodborne diseases PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 0 35 65 to to toN/A Activity X Standing X Walking X Sitting X Bending X Reaching with arms X Finger and hand dexterity X Talking X Hearing X Seeing Lifting carrying pushing and or pulling: X 20 lbs. maximum X 50 lbs. maximum X 100 lbs. maximum
