Job Description

Liaison Engineering Manager

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a First Line Liaison Engineering Manager to lead an integrated group of engineers and technical employees for Liaison Engineering. This position is in support of 787 manufacturing operations in North Charleston SC.

The manager will facilitate communication with other Engineering leaders Program leaders Supply Chain Engineering peers and others as necessary to derive an Engineering determination to disclosures. This will involve priority determination and coordination with program design leaders. The manager will also provide higher Material Review Board (MRB) functions and oversight and interface with Operations Quality Engineering airline representatives regulatory agencies and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting airplane build test and delivery. The manager will staff and direct a technical team in establishing group goals manage budgets and monitor group performance against program and functional commitments and developing technical employees within the group.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Production Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes.
  • Manages develops and motivates employees.
  • Work statement management for engineering rapid response to accomplish the open work and deliver
  • 787 support for open work to support following day planning.
  • Develop relationship with operations/quality teams.
  • Communicate shift hand offs in support of the urgent requirements for delivery.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Potentially Provide higher Material Review Board (MRB) oversight.
  • Interface with Operations Quality Engineering airline representatives regulatory agencies and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting airplane build test and delivery.
  • Staff and direct a technical team in establishing group goals.
  • Manage budgets.
  • Monitor group performance against program and functional commitments and developing technical employees within the group.
  • Position may require weekend and off shift support as necessary.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher in an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry.
  • Must have current or prior Material Review Board (MRB) experience
  • Willing to work second shift weekends and holidays if required
  • Experience leading a team formally or informally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years of experience working in production / flightline environment.
  • Experience working with crossfunctional teams.
