PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hiring Range for this position is: $30.98$38.72/Hourly
Signing Bonus: New employees are eligible for a$5000 bonus; with $2500 paid on the first payroll and $2500 paid upon completion of six 6 month introductory period from hire date.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Locksmith Technician performs a wide range of skilled and semiskilled locksmith and door lock and access control maintenance work involving operation of Cityowned and leased commercial buildings and facilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs proficient maintenance repair and replacement tasks
Assists with the Master Locksmith responsibilities including all locks keys door openers door hardware security ID Badge readers and Access Control software systems.
Conducts preventive maintenance inspections of locks and door hardware within City buildings and facilities.
Operates a variety of tools and equipment related to all maintenance functions and locksmith tasks
May perform general repair preventative maintenance to lock functions.
Monitors and provides quality control and services of outside contractors
Maintains various records such as equipment time and material inventory
May assist in training other employees
May act as a lead worker
Performs additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Journeyman Level or equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Minimum of three 3 years commercial building and facilities maintenance
Minimum of two 2 years access control and door hardware experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of methods techniques tools and equipment used in performing facilities maintenance and locksmith functions
General usage and knowledge of Locksmith Key Control database software
Applicable Facilities safety practices and procedures
Hazards and safety practices common to the construction industry
City policy procedures and division work guidelines
Mold identification and awareness
Asbestos identification and awareness
Skills:
Skill in the use of tools specialized equipment common to commercial facilities repair and door hardware maintenance
Skill in the use of single person lifts and fall protection procedures
Skill in monitoring the work of assigned personnel through apprentices
Course Training
Advanced Specific Locksmith Training course completion
OSHA 10hour General Industry Training certificate
OSHA 30hour General Industry Training certificate
Basic MS WORD Software completion

Colorado Drivers License
Journeyman Level Certification of door hardware /access control classes or direct training
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Moderate to heavy physical work depending upon the assigned function
May require the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with or without assistance Considerable walking and standing
Frequent performance of activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending stooping pushing pulling and climbing to heights of 30 feet
Hand/eye and hand/foot coordination for operation of tools equipment and vehicles Vision to read manuals and record data and monitor and observe instruments and gauges Hearing/listening for troubleshooting and warning signals
Speech communication to provide technical information and communicate with employees and citizens.
Work Environment:
Works both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to noise dust fumes chemicals paints and building materials.
May work on roofs crawl spaces secured areas and confined spaces May work oncall and varying shifts
Equipment Used:
Operates equipment and vehicles common to facilities maintenance
Operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment common to construction maintenance and/or locksmith;
