For more information please visit: Controller is a key leadership position within MAAC serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and playing a vital role in the organizations overall strategic planning and future direction. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) the Controller oversees MAACs financial operations ensuring compliance efficiency and financial sustainability. This role not only leads financial management and reporting but also contributes to shaping MAACs operational growth culture and longterm success.
As a senior leadership team member the Controller is actively involved in crossdepartmental collaboration connecting financial strategy with organizational goals and fostering a culture of transparency accountability and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serve as a strategic financial leader contributing to overall organizational planning decisionmaking and longterm sustainability.
- Oversee plan and direct financial budgetary payroll procurement and general accounting activities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP GASB Uniform Guidance and all applicable funding regulations.
- Lead financial planning efforts including budget development forecasting and financial strategy alignment with MAACs mission.
- Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership to drive organizational growth operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility.
- Lead annual audits for multiple entities including Single Audits and oversee external audit coordination.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and operational efficiency.
- Support fiscal staff development by providing training mentorship and performance evaluations.
- Assist in modernizing financial systems integrating new technologies to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
- Monitor funding sources ensuring compliance with reimbursement drawdown processes and reporting requirements.
- Provide highquality financial analysis and reporting to leadership government agencies and external stakeholders.
- Stay informed on changes in financial regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure financial alignment with programmatic and operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Management or a related field.
- Minimum of five 5 years of experience in fullcycle accounting financial planning and budget management.
- Experience with government and state funding Single Audits and nonprofit financial management preferred.
- CPA or equivalent certification highly desirable.
- Proficiency in financial software including Oracle NetSuite and Mad Skills in Excel.

HEALTH STATUS
Must have a physical examination TB clearance and a drug screen by a doctor/clinic designated by MAAC as well as immunization records for influenza* pertussis and measles as required by state and federal regulations prior to the first day of employment.

BACKGROUND CLEARANCE
All positions are subject to a background/education check DMV check NSOR exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources.
Note: California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client. Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance signed criminal record statement and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.
TRANSPORTATION
Must have and maintain a valid California Drivers License daily use of a personal insured vehicle and have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAACs insurance carrier. Incumbents will be enrolled in the California DMV Pull Program.
