All students have an assigned school social worker and are supported by Behavioral Health Professionals (BHP) Special Education Teachers Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists.Position: Special Education Teacher 282 Certification)Location: Auburn MECompensation: Up to $60K Plus Excellent Benefits!Our Philosophy:At Maine School Solutions we provide individualized therapeutic support and educational services to students identified in special education with behavioral social and emotional needs that have not been successful in public school in grades K 12 and need a more structured and supported environment with specially designed instruction. All students have an assigned school social worker and are supported by Behavioral Health Professionals (BHP) Special Education Teachers Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists.Requirements:Completed Bachelors Degree in a related fieldMaine Department of Education 282 Special Education CertificationValid Drivers License and Clean Criminal Background CheckNote: Candidates who are close to certification or potentially eligible for certification will be considered!Primary Responsibilities:Assist students in achieving academic success by providing our students regular guidance mentoring and support during science classes.Develop weekly lesson plans that may need to be individualized to students current academic level and abilities.Provide direction and supervision to BHPs when needed.Participate as member of our education and treatment teams which facilitate individual counseling as well as group counseling and assessment when needed.Assist with managing classroom behavior in accordance with student IEPs by enforcing rules and procedures.Demonstrate and maintain professional boundaries with students at all times.The school follows a traditional schedule which includes a modified eightweek summer schedule.Perform as a case manager with a caseload of 1012 students which includes writing IEPs developing goals and attending IEP meetings.Assist BHPs with deescalating students when needed.Create a safe welcoming and nurturing learning environment.Benefits:Paid school vacations holidays snow days & Earned Paid Leave at 64 hours/yearGreat work / life balance (only 211 workdays per year)Yearround schedule with modified summer school schedule (T W and Th.)Medical Dental Vision Retirement Plan Health Flexible Spending Account Legal Short & LongTerm Disability Basic Life & Supplemental Life AD&D and Employee Assistance Programs.Maine School Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer!
