Job Description

Our client specializes in the manufacture of packaging for the personal care household pharmaceutical and food and beverage markets focusing on bespoke solutions.
They supply the medium to large volumes & standards markets with a wide spectrum of offerings including mould manufacture and maintenance




Role: Junior Mechatronics Engineer

Location: Ottery Western Cape


Qualification

Must have Grade 12 Matric or NQF4 equivalent qualification.

Tertiary

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification (Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial / Automation)
  • Strong technical aptitude with experience in Mechanical Electrical and Industrial Automation
  • Proven experience in ISO 9001:2000 compliance

Competencies
  • Sound understanding of drawings.
  • Fundamentals of fault finding and equipment testing.
  • Sound knowledge on H&S and safe working procedures.
  • Sound understanding of engineering principles

Responsibilities

Control System Design
  • Assist in the design and development of control systems focusing on automation motion control and integration with mechanical systems.
Electrical
  • Interpret and create detailed electrical drawings including schematics and wiring diagrams to support control systems and machine integration.
  • Responsible for the physical installation of electrical wiring and ensure all connections are accurate and meet safety standards for control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical and control systems ensuring accuracy and reliability of system performance.
Programming and Configuration

  • Participate in the programming and configuration of machine control systems including PLCs servo drives and automation controllers ensuring they meet project specifications.
Project Management
  • Manage smallscale projects independently from concept to completion handling planning and testing phases to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Perform technical calculations and simulations to support project requirements.
  • Assist and coordinating resources such as equipment tools and materials for projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers on the design and installation of motion control systems working with servo motors and mechanical components while contributing to largerscale projects.
Technical Support
  • Assist in developing and implementing efficient solutions that drive system performance and meet business objectives.
  • Participate in the testing commissioning and optimization of machines and automation systems ensuring all functions operate according to design requirements.

Administrative Support
  • Maintain accurate documentation of technical work project files and progress reports and communicate effectively with engineers and project managers.
Health and Safety
  • Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g. ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas).
  • Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues.
  • Report any accidents incidents and near misses.

Quality
  • Apply the companys quality principles and standards.
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Food Safety System Certification (FSSC)
  • Food safety standards are site specific and at these sites employees should:
  • Apply the sites food safety principles and standards.
  • Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager.
  • Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Companys FSMS (Food Safety Management System).
