Job Description

The WPS Psychologist will report to the Director of Student Services Student Services Coordinator and Building Principal(s) and assist in the goal of helping students in our district fully develop their unique intellectual social and emotional capabilities.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Administer and interpret formal and informal cognitive and other relevant evaluations required to determine eligibility for special services as well as for ongoing reevaluations.
  • Assist with assessments at other academic levels as needed.
  • Provide written reports of assessment for student evaluations.
  • Collaborate with building and support staff throughout the district as well as parents and outside agencies to meet the needs of students.
  • Participate as a member of the IEP team as well as other relevant schoolbased teams including crisis support IST (Instructional Support Team RTI/MTSS etc.
  • Write IEP goals and objectives as well as monitor and report on progress.
  • Provide group and individual lessons on social skills development as well as individual counseling sessions based on student needs and IEP goals/objectives.
  • Involvement and consultation around behavioral interventions and plans in conjunction with district BCBA/ behavioral staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing PD including maintaining knowledge of new intervention strategies and new assessments in the areas of instructional strategies behavior management behavioral intervention plans and emotional disabilities.
  • Provide counseling and other therapeutic services to Woburn Memorial High School therapeutic program as requested.
  • Design and implement professional development upon request.
  • Participate in the district crisis team and attend related trainings.
  • Conduct home visits as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administration.

Qualifications and Skill Set:

  • Masters Degree from an approved program in school psychology.
  • Appropriate DESE MA state certification as a School Psychologist.
  • Experience in a culturally diverse public school setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child development
