Job Description
StudentRun Business Instructor TShirt Printing & Merchandise Production
Position Overview:
We are seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial teacher to lead our new StudentRun Business: TShirt Printing and Merchandise Production program at the high school. This will be a fulltime position; however the schedule will not follow a traditional bell schedule. Instead the instructor will have a more flexible schedule aligned to the operational needs of the studentrun business including potential planning time for production oversight community orders and student leadership development.
This twoyear program is designed to provide students with handson experience in running a fully operational business offering custom apparel and merchandise to the school and local community. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience in business marketing graphic design production or entrepreneurship combined with a passion for working with high school students to develop realworld skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver handson lessons focused on equipment operation production processes design marketing sales and business management.
- Teach students to safely operate and maintain printing equipment while fostering creativity in product design and production.
- Guide students in creating marketing campaigns to promote their products through social media email and inperson sales events.
- Support students in earning industryrecognized credentials including certifications in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Adobe Illustrator Google Analytics and Social Media Marketing.
- Foster an entrepreneurial mindset teaching students how to evaluate business performance manage inventory calculate profit margins and continuously improve their business operations.
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to build the businesss visibility and expand its customer base.
- Mentor students as they take on leadership roles and coach younger classmates helping to cultivate leadership and teamwork skills.
- Maintain accurate records of production sales expenses and student progress.
- Ensure that all production processes align with school safety standards and industry best practices.
- Provide true workbased learning experiences for students in the schoolbased enterprise as they design produce and sell created items
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- Experience in business ownership graphic design marketing entrepreneurship or production.
- Teaching license in business marketing technology or related field (or willingness to pursue appropriate credentialing through an alternative educational license with district support)
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire creativity and critical thinking in students.
- Comfort with social media marketing platforms and graphic design software particularly Adobe Illustrator.
- Strong problemsolving skills and a willingness to adapt as the program evolves.
- Experience with the following equipment or willingness to learn and support:
- HP Latex Printers (capable of producing highquality prints on a variety of media including selfadhesive vinyls banners films papers wallcoverings and canvas
- Tshirt printing equipment including conveyor dryer station presses manual heat press embroidery machine
- Laser Engraver
- Latex cutter; paired with latex printers produces graphics for vehicles wall decals stickers signage
- Heat Assist Top Roller Wide Format Laminator
