The Opportunity:
The Fire Safety/Prevention Specialist I provides technical support promotes and advances fire and life safety on campus. This position is responsible for assisting with and conducting inspections supporting and coordinating state fire marshal related activities conducting event safety assessments researching Florida Fire Code to ensure compliance to include recommending corrective action as needed and responding to fire alarm emergencies. The Fire Safety/Prevention Specialist I serves as the fire safety liaison for UCF and outside entities for related activities permits and safety training.
Responsibilities:
Perform compliance inspections independently and escort outside authorities and contractors related to fire and life safety.
Act as the UCF liaison with the State Fire Marshal and the local authorities. Conduct event safety assessments for potentially hazardous events; focused on ensuring event details comply with fire and life safety laws and event best practices along with identifying when escalation of event review is needed.
Assist the department in issuing permits guidelines and general reviews for safety compliance with associated records files and databases (including data gathering and analysis for Clery Act compliance).
Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the Florida Fire Code and university facilities to ensure compliance goals are met.
Supports the department with other EH&S duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of two 2 years of fire safety experience.
Fire Inspector I certification.
Current certifications in CPR/AED First Aid and HAZMAT.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:
This position requires a valid Class E drivers license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
