As our Head of EMEA VAT you will support the Regional Tax Lead for leading all aspects of and managing VAT activities. You will be the leader of the EMEA VAT team and you will act as a business partner and coordinate with local and global partners ensuring VAT outcomes are aligned to global tax strategy and stays in sync with local laws as well as international standards. This is a highimpact role that combines strategic vision with operational excellence offering the opportunity to influence businesscritical decisions and drive measurable value for both our organization and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Regional Tax Lead in the implementation of the Global Indirect Tax Strategy and the annual Indirect Tax Risk Assessment of the Group;
  • Support the Regional Tax Lead in the implementation the Indirect Tax Governance framework and performs continuous monitoring for effectiveness and potential improvements;
  • Prepare and improve Indirect Tax policies guidelines and instructions;
  • Actively participate and contribute to strategic planning tax advice risk management issue resolution and management of external service providers.
  • Actively participate in Garrett Group Projects and provide Indirect Tax subject matter advice to project teams and other functions;
  • Partnering with Garrett Affiliates Business and Finance Functions proactively collects information on business activities performed by Garrett Group in different countries and regions performs indirect tax reviews and indirect tax risk assessments and prepares actions plans for mitigating potential indirect tax risks and utilizing indirect tax opportunities;
  • Monitor changes to indirect tax rules and regulations and ensures business/finance processes are updated accordingly;
  • Supervise the Indirect Tax Compliance Team 34 people) activities of Garrett EMEA Companies (where so required) and ensure proper VAT compliance reporting and reconciliation
  • Ensures all processes policies and procedures are clearly defined fully documented in line with Garrett standards and consistent with best practices;
  • Promote a strong control environment and follow up on audit issues and implement correcting measures;
  • Support and participate in multicountry Indirect Tax audits/requests from Local Tax authorities;
  • Participation in the continuous automation of the VAT compliance processes and retain of the knowledge;
  • Maximize the benefit of technology and processes already put in place as well as explore further tax technology opportunities.
  • Support the training of the wider Indirect Tax organization on technical indirect tax matters;
  • Skill to express indirect tax concepts to nontax teams;
  • Skill to develop and train other VAT team members.

Requirements:

  • Master degree in Business Administration/ Economics/Finance or Law is desirable
  • Strong Indirect Tax knowledge of the EU Directive and its practical application with an International Indirect Tax experience ranging between 10 and 15 years.
  • Experience of implementing tax processes and solutions in ERP systems (ideally SAP) including einvoicing ereporting tax determination logic and related tools.
  • EMEA experience in a big four and/or a multinational entity is required;
  • Selfstarter proactive with a can do attitude
  • Ability to work independently foreseeing projects and deliverables from start to finish;
  • Excellent communication skills conceptual thinking creative problem solving skills organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes dig into technical details and translate complex technical issues to nonexperts.
