The Solid Waste Division (SWD) is recruiting an enthusiastic team player for a Construction Stormwater & Traffic Control Site Engineer (Engineer III Classification) in their Cedar Hills Regional Landfill (CHRLF) Unit. This position will serve a missioncritical role for SWD by supporting construction activities at CHRLF over the next five years. This is a Term Limited Temporary (TLT) position with a 5year duration.
Job duties will occur in a complex fastpaced construction environment. This is an excellent opportunity for serving the residents and businesses of King County while working to ensure the protection of human health and the environment. The right candidate for this position will be part of a highly dynamic team consisting of SWD staff consultants construction managers and contractors and will gain invaluable experience by performing critical environmental and traffic control work within largescale public sector construction.
About this Role:
This position will have two critical responsibilities: 1 Management monitoring and compliance coordination of the Construction Stormwater General Permit (CSGP) for CHRLF during construction activities over the next five years; and 2 Management and enforcement of the CHRLF Master Traffic Control Plan (MTCP) during construction activities over the next five years.
Construction projects that will be underway concurrently at CHRLF over the next five years include: 1 closure of the Area 8 landfill cell; 2 development of the Area 9 landfill cell; 3 preparation of Area 5 and 6 landfill cells for placement of additional waste; 4 closure of Area 5 and 6 landfill cells; 5 construction of the Area 4 interior landfill gas header; 6 upgrades and improvements to the landfill leachate lagoons; 7 (potential) construction of the permanent facility relocation (PFR) site and building; 8 Installation of vertical gas wells in multiple locations; and 9 other relevant smaller projects at CHRLF.
Construction is likely to be performed by multiple contractors over varying periods increasing the complexity of concurrent construction activities at CHRLF over the next 5 years. All construction projects will also occur in tandem with ongoing landfilling operations including disposal of waste operation and maintenance of existing environmental control systems routine environmental monitoring and other small projects that occur on a regular basis.
The complexity and importance of maintaining compliance with the CSGP and enforcement of the MTCP during construction is paramount for ensuring uninterrupted disposal of municipal solid waste throughout this period. This is a missioncritical role that will have a direct impact on helping SWD and the public while also protecting human health and the environment.
This position performs work remotely and onsite.
