Job Description

Principal Research Legal & Compliance Research (Assurance) PPR

We are seeking a Principal Research to create research that helps legal and compliance leaders drive success at their key priorities. This role enables you to explore your intellectual curiosity in a collaborative teambased environment. You will be offered robust training support and coaching to achieve career success and develop research skills.

What you will do:

As a Principal you will lead or partner with a team on writing research that solves the critical challenges of legal and compliance leaders today. On the team you will:

  • Lead research through Gartners proprietary research process including root cause analysis hypothesis generation primary research and other qualitative analysis.
  • Write research across several legal and compliance areas such as compliance program management legal and compliance risk governance and management. etc.
  • Independently create and/or manage key research deliverables including but not limited to: white papers howtoguides case studies diagnostics presentations and webinars templates and custom research requests.
  • Conduct research by speaking with senior executives and professionals academics industry experts etc. and conducting wideranging secondary literature searches
  • Directly lead develop and motivate one or more researchers across the entire project lifecycle from conception to completion and presentation.
  • Monitor content performance and provide suggestions to elevate quality and deliver on Gartners client engagement & retention objectives.
  • Support content/ product planning by identifying gaps in the existing plans and suggesting topical research suggestions
  • Closely collaborate with peers and senior stakeholders in India the US and UK as a part of global research initiatives.

We are looking for creative analytically strong articulate and selfmotivated individuals who would like to develop a strong knowledge of the terrain along with building consultative problemsolving skills. Unlike management consulting investment banking or law our strategic research positions do not depend on a special appetite or aptitude for sales or business development. Our search for talent is centered without exception on the ability to run deep on a logical philosophical or economic problem and resurface with rigorous original insight. Some of the shared characteristics of our successful hires include:

  • Strong appetite to dive deep into a given content area to develop expertise and distill key findings. Must be intellectually curious and have the desire to quickly develop generalist knowledge.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also being an effective team player taking full ownership of initiatives and driving results with minimal supervision.
  • Experience leading and/or coleading highvisibility research projects with measurable impact.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous research asks into clear actionable research outcomes.
  • Skilled in gathering analyzing restructuring and creating original insights from both qualitative and quantitative data including complex data sets.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with particular attention to precision of language and ability to organize information logically.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines multitask and manage work effectively under changing priorities and ambiguity.
  • Experience creating graphical representations of data with a strong inclination to continually improve data visualization techniques.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Word PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Aspiration to continuously learn and improve professionally.

What you will need:

  • Masters (MBA Sociology History Finance Philosophy Literature etc. or PhD degree in fields such as management social science sociology etc.
  • 57 years of research and/or management consulting experience.
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas effectively with succinct communication skills.
  • Project management and communication skills (projects involve multiple internal teams) with ability to meet research milestones and deadlines.
