Job Description

Job Title: Power Plant Engineer(FMCG Sagamu)
Location: Sagamu Ogun State
Employment Type: FullTime

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Engineer to oversee the operation maintenance and optimization of power generation systems within our facility. The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient safe and reliable operation of plant utilities including gas generators diesel generators and Medium Voltage operation while complying with industry regulations and food safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the operation maintenance and troubleshooting of power generation equipment including gas generators diesel generators and Medium Voltage operation
  • Ensure a steady and uninterrupted power supply to support food production processes.
  • Monitor and optimize energy efficiency fuel consumption and load distribution for costeffective operations.
  • Maintain and operate the Efficient Load of Production load and Critical Load to ensure smooth plant operation.
  • Develop and implement preventive predictive and corrective maintenance programs for all power plant equipment.
  • Conduct diagnostics and rootcause analysis to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory management to avoid disruptions in utility services.
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance teams ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with health safety and environmental (HSE) regulations including food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP GMP).
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard control measures related to power plant operations.
  • Train staff on safety procedures emergency shutdown protocols and fire prevention measures.
  • Work closely with the production quality assurance and maintenance teams to align power plant operations with food manufacturing requirements.
  • Identify and implement energy conservation strategies to reduce operating costs and carbon footprint.
  • Recommend and execute plant modifications upgrades and automation projects to enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant performance fuel usage and system efficiency reports.
  • Assist in preparing budgets cost analyses and capital expenditure plans for power plant operations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for repairs upgrades and equipment procurement.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new power systems and machinery.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers technicians and plant operators.
  • Collaborate with facility management engineering and production teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Participate in crossfunctional meetings to align utility services with production schedules.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in mechanical Electrical or Power Engineering (or a related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in power plant operations within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong understanding of carbon generation & cogeneration (CHP)
  • Knowledge of food industry regulatory standards including HACCP GMP and FDA guidelines.
  • Familiarity with SCADA PLC and automation control systems.
  • Strong problemsolving analytical and leadership skills.


Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Power Plant Engineer (CPE) or equivalent
  • OSHA/HSE Safety Certification
  • Energy Management Certification (if applicable)
