About the role:

The 2025 10 week paid summer Internship Program at Northern Trust based in Canary Wharf will offer students the opportunity to gain practical handson experience working in one of the most transformational industries in the market.The start date is 30th June 2025. This is a 10 week internship until 8th September 2025.

Who were looking for:

Our internships are for penultimateyear undergraduate students only who are looking to gain work experience in our industry with a view to pursuing graduate roles in 2026.

We are on the lookout for students with:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK 35 hours per week.
  • Available to take up a 10 week placement commencing 30th June.
  • Applicants must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel MS Outlook PowerPoint & Word.

Banking & Markets 4 posts

  • Northern Trust Banking & Markets encompasses global banking treasury management corporate and institutional lending benefit payments alongside the global trading desks for all equities bonds and FX trading securities lending and financing and repo trading.
  • Opportunity for a 10 week internship in one of the following four roles:
    • Securities Finance
    • Regulatory Change
    • Transition Management
    • Liquidity Solutions & Business Management

Audit Services 2 posts

  • Working with audit teams and business unit stakeholders to support delivery of a variety of audit projects
  • Provide input into the evaluation of risks and controls to support management in meeting its regulatory governance and reporting requirements. Learn how to develop and present risk and control recommendations
  • Assist management in the preparation of presentations reports and meetings

Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) 1 post

  • Northern Trust Asset Management is a leading global asset management firm serving institutional and individual investors in 29 countries. Northern Trust Asset Management help our clients navigate the markets and offer innovative solutions across equities fixed income and cash management.
  • This is an opportunity to work across a number of disciplines within the Asset Management team in London on a rotational basis. This includes time spent with investments product distribution operations and business management.

EMEA Asset Owners 6 posts

  • Northern Trust is the largest asset servicing partner to the corporate and public pension funds sectors. Client base includes Corporate and Public DB schemes DC Pension Schemes and other pension fund consolidators.
  • The EMEA Asset Owners business supports and manages the administrative and relationship needs of all our institutional trust and commercial banking clients.

CASS Office 1 post

  • The CASS Office is a dedicated team of subject matters experts responsible for the safeguarding of client assets in compliance with UK FCA regulation.
  • The team operates at the intersection of financial integrity regulatory excellence and client trust working to uphold the principles outlined by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other relevant authorities.
  • They specialise in monitoring assessing and enhancing adherence to the UK CASS (Client Assets Sourcebook) rules. With a focus on minimising risk and maximising transparency.
  • Through robust controls regular audits and proactive risk management they support organisations in navigating the complex landscape of client asset regulations.
