Duties and Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical systems for selfdriving vehicles ensuring reliability efficiency and safety.
Conduct detailed studies on the motion of various components and systems within the autonomous driving context.
Employ rapid prototyping techniques to quickly iterate and refine mechanical designs.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including software engineers to integrate mechanical systems with autonomous driving software.
Conduct simulations and realworld testing to validate designs and systems.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in selfdriving technologies and incorporate them into design and development processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in existing and new selfdriving vehicle systems.
Document design processes analyses and test results for knowledge sharing and future reference.
Qualifications and Experience
Familiarity with interfacing sensors (cameras lidars radars IMU GPS) electronic control systems (DbW systems) and other components used in automated systems with unixbased systems.
Familiarity with programming with C/python on unix based platform.
Working knowledge to troubleshoot and program for CAN and ethernetbased communications with sensors.
Proficient with using lab equipment for designing building and testing.
Ability to troubleshoot and improve existing equipment design new equipment solutions and ensure seamless integration of sensors and electronic control systems with software.
Ability to program necessary tooling software to troubleshoot interfacing issues with nextgen sensors and electronic control units.
Proficiency with 3D modeling CAD software (SolidWorks or Fusion360
B.S/ Masters degree in computer science Mechanical Engineering with a focus on mechanics Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Extra Credit
Experience with robotic middleware like ROS1.0 ROS2.0 rqt rviz
Experience deploying software for unixbased prototyping boards (e.g.. NVIDIA Jetson DRIVE PX AGX platforms etc.
Experience developing software on Real Time Operating Systems (QNX RTLinux VxWorks etc.
Development of controls algorithms on unixbased platforms
Time synchronization in a distributed architecture (PTP NTP etc.
