CDR Maguire Engineering is hiring for an experienced Bridge Design Engineer for our growing Allentown PA office. We offer exciting projects to work on flexible hybrid schedule casual and teamoriented work environment and career progression opportunities.
JOB SUMMARY:
At the highest level must have an enthusiastic entrepreneurial and committed effort to performing their job in an ethical and proper manner. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of design and plan preparation functions with limited supervision and guidance including engineering computations cost estimates checking report writing etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operational/Technical
Perform structural engineering design tasks as assigned by Project Manager including preparing engineering calculations quantities sketches layout drawings etc.
Perform bridge related geometry including COGO geometry
Promote excellent internal and external client service throughout the organization.
Perform structural engineering design functions with minimal supervision guidance including engineering computations report writing etc.
Participate in visits to project sites project status meetings and public meetings.
May perform bridge inspection as abilities permit.
Keep up to date with new design technology constructions equipment and advancements.
Assist in the preparation of engineering reports technical specifications and cost estimates.
Provide support to other offices as needed.
OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Other duties that may arise from timetotime and/or are commensurate with the title and position.
Travel as required and as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.
Attend training prerequisites as provided by Company.
B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field Masters degree preferred.
12 years of related experience. 5 years P.E. preferred.
EIT Certificate or ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
Ability to communicate effectively with ownership management coworkers customers vendors contractors partners and other stakeholders.
Knowledge of applicable local state and federal statutes and guidelines with respect to field.
Knowledge of general structural engineering.
Knowledge of clients design manuals procedures specifications standards computer programs applicable design codes engineering software and plan presentation format.
Knowledge of written communications including technical reports letters meeting minutes etc.
Knowledge of CDRM Design and Office Procedures.
Skilled in using relevant software as needed including but not limited to Bentley MicroStation CADD Inroads Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D MATHCAD STAAD II and Bluebeam as well as other online resources.
Ability to perform less complex structural engineering design tasks independently and more complex design tasks with supervision of senior engineering staff.
Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis/reports including HEC2 analysis.
