Job Description


JOB SUMMARY:


Esperanza has an immediate opening for a fulltime Vice President of Development who will provide oversight and direction for the fundraising units portfolio of annual events appeals grant and tax credit solicitations and emerging major donor and planned giving work. This position plays a vital role in maintaining and expanding a strong base of donors in support of Esperanzas mission as well as across the family of nonprofit programs subsidiary 501c3s and institutions.

Esperanza is a faithbased social benefit organization committed to strengthening our Hispanic communities and all who live there.Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Development the Vice President of Development is responsible for ensuring that the organizations fundraising goals are met leveraging new and existing systems for management and efficiency against clear organizational priorities. In addition to these two positions the Development Department has two staff focused on institutional giving and two focused on individual giving.


The Development portfolio includes 130 annual grant solicitations across corporate foundation and government sources each year; grants management integration with finance and programs; nascent major and planned giving programs; 3 primary annual fundraising events which together bring in over $200000 in sponsorships and an annual Esperanza fundraising event to be developed. The Vice President of Development will build upon this foundation to strengthen individual giving and ensure continued revenue growth in all areas.

Vice President of Development Roles & Responsibilities:

Ensure successful of core fundraising events in keeping with plan developed collaboratively with SVP of Development. Prepare reporting materials for leadership to present during development committee and Board meetings using regular performance metrics for the department.

Develop departmental goals each year with SVP of Development that prioritize unrestricted revenue programmatic funding gaps emerging initiatives and core priorities.

Prepare and monitor goals of department goals annual fundraising budget and revenue forecast and regularly report on performance against plan and budget.

Ensure integration of individual department/program needs within the overall development portfolio of activity focusing efforts based upon budgetary needs and organizational priorities.

Building responsive working relationships with division leaders on behalf of the department.

Ensure departmental policies and procedures related to grants management donor recognition annual calendar grants contracts are regularly reviewed and kept up to date.

Ensure clear differentiation and responsibility of members within the unit while holding regular team meetings for cross information sharing that supports effective handoffs.

Hold a biweekly meeting of the development department; and meet monthly with marketing for coordination around all fundraising related messaging goals.

Support development staff to receive ongoing professional development to ensure the team remains a goto professional resource for peers across the organization.

Foster a strong culture of collaboration and timeliness.

Ensure data about relationships and contacts are regularly entered into CRM system.

Development improved moves management systems for individual and corporate donors; and ensure preparation of quarterly major donor and planned giving donor prospect review meetings.

Reinvigorate and expand the various donor lists for annual appeals.

Develop a strategy to expand visibility and membership of the Semillas de Esperanza Planned Giving program along with for donors to learn about estate planning yearround Work with the SVP of Development to explore establishing school alumni giving programs.

Develop impact report and other pieces to ensure that donors are effectively stewarded.

Meet regularly with SVP of Development to discuss challenges growth opportunities and make strategic decisions about priorities.

Provide support for departmental division budgeting of development related revenue goals and ensure ongoing alignment/integration of organizational priorities reflected in the budget.


Requirements

Desired Knowledge Skills and Abilities:


A minimum of six years of development and management experience in a growthoriented organization with a proven track record of effective fundraising.

Experience in grant writing and management is required.

Experience with proposal writing and development.

Data driven resultsoriented leadership and prior management experience is required.

Experience using CRMs and prospect research platforms such as Donor Search.

Bilingual Spanish English preferred.

BA/BS or Masters degree from accredited college or university in a related field of study

Local association membership i.e. Association of Fundraising Professionals preferred.



Salary: $100000. to $110000. per year


WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Willing to travel to fulfill project demands (mostly local and regional).
  • Willing to work flexible hours to accommodate project events and activities.
  • Willing to attend public events representing Esperanza and other assigned projects.
