CITY RESIDENCY REQUIRED

LOCATION:3505 N. Dries Lane Peoria Illinois
HOURS: 7:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
The purpose of this position is to perform technical engineering tasks to ensure public safety and quality infrastructure. This is accomplished by overseeing development and maintenance projects; construction oversight/review of projects in the rightofway for utility companies and private contractors; reviewing and issuing rightofway permits asset inventory and condition assessments maintaining permitting asset management and other data and systems. Other duties include resolving citizen complaints; assisting with field analysis; performing construction related fieldwork and creating reports.

This is accomplished performing utility and construction inspections and providing direction to contractors consistent with industry standards; providing administrative support through data maintenance and review; and maintaining management systems. Other duties include resolving citizen complaints; assisting with field analysis; and performing field work.
Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited twoyear college or technical school; valid State Drivers License; and five or more years of progressively related experience required. Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.
IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES: Knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decisionmaking abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization; basic principles and practices of roadway and rightofway construction engineering; recordkeeping report preparation filing methods and records management techniques; and basic construction data collection tools and equipment. Skill in using tact discretion initiative and independent judgment within closely defined established guidelines; using a computer terminal and/or mobile device to accurately and rapidly enter and retrieve data and information; using mathematics including algebra plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; communicating clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; and preparing clear and concise reports correspondence and other written materials. Ability to read papers periodicals journals manuals dictionaries thesauruses and encyclopedias. Ordinarily such education is obtained in high school up to college; deal with a system of real numbers; and practical application of fractions percentages ratios/proportions and measurement; and write reports prepare business letters expositions and summaries with proper format punctuation spelling and grammar using all parts of speech.
