Job Description
We have freshly raised 3.75m from 20VC Stride and Base10. We start and grow craft businesses. We are the fastest growing operating system for this in DACH. You will have the opportunity to lay the structure for scaling in a small high-performing team from Berlin and will work directly with the the founder. Our ambition is to build handly into a generational business. Were not playing to compete. Not to win. But to dominate the category were creating. First in Germany. Then Europe. Then globally.
Weve validated product-market fit and are doubling down on one vertical with massive potential. As VP Engineering your mission is to own product execution end-to-end from hands-on coding to building a high-performing tech team and to lay the technical foundation for scaling a category-defining platform in the home services space.
Tasks
Own and execute the product roadmap together with the CEO with full accountability for tech delivery
Lead by example: Spend 70% of your time hands-on coding in our core stack (.NET Angular Flutter AWS)
Uphold engineering excellence: Set the quality bar and implement pragmatic processes to ship reliably at speed
Build and scale the tech team: Recruit mentor and retain engineers who thrive in a high-ownership low-ego environment
Enable fast iteration: Design architecture and workflows that balance flexibility speed and technical sustainability
Ship impactful features including:
Virtual IBAN payment flows
VOIP integrations for customers
AI-powered quote generation & call flows
Digital debt collection tooling
Performance analytics dashboards
Drive product/tech alignment: Collaborate tightly with product ops and GTM teams to solve real user problems
Continuously improve: Introduce best practices (CI/CD testing observability) where they add speed or clarity
Act as a cultural multiplier: Help shape a team culture based on ownership momentum and mutual respect
Requirements
- Hands-on excellence: Deep technical skill in relevant stack (.NET Angular AWS Flutter) with high delivery velocity.
- You already build with AI tools like Cursor Copilot or ChatGPT
- Startup judgement: You know when to ship fast when to slow down and how to prioritize tech debt without killing momentum.
- Team builder & mentor: Building a strong team is key and you know how to attract and develop talents while setting standards without micromanaging.
- Product sense: Understands what great UX means thinks in value not just features collaborates tightly with product/ops.
- Clarity & calm under pressure: Communicates clearly prioritizes well and stabilizes teams in ambiguity.
- Lean process mindset: Implements just enough structure to enable speed and alignment.
- Cultural fit for handly: Low ego curious fast thinker doesnt need polished decks to take action.
- Berlin-based or willing to relocate (we can help on that)
- Willing to work from the office. Every day.
- Fluent in English (C1)

Process:
- 30 min: Introduction with Recruiter
- 60-90min: In person with Basti for Culture Fit & Vision Alignment.
- 1h: Tech chat with Sean (our former CTO)
