You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Freight Invoice Audit and Claim Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all freight invoices auditing carrier charges identifying discrepancies and managing freight claims. This role is critical in controlling transportation costs recovering overpayments and improving carrier performance through systematic reviews and claims processing. This opportunity will require an office presence at our Houston Spenwick facility for 12 days during the work week.
Key Responsibilities:
Invoice Audit:
o Review and validate all freight invoices against contracted rates shipment details and service levels
o Identify and resolve discrepancies overcharges and billing errors
o Communicate with carriers to dispute incorrect charges and ensure timely resolution
o Maintain detailed records of audits disputes and outcomes
Freight Claims Management:
o Evaluate and enhance existing processes
o File freight claims for loss damage or service failures with carriers in accordance with company policies and carrier guidelines for LTL TL and Parcel
o Track and monitor claim statuses to ensure timely recovery of funds
o Collaborate with internal teams (such as shipping and customer success) to gather required documentation for claims
o Analyze claim trends and work with carriers to reduce recurring issues
Reporting & Analysis:
o Prepare regular reports on freight audit results and claim recovery.
o Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
o Provide insights and recommendations to management based on audit and claim data.
o Partner with shipping teams to identify and resolve freight cost discrepancies ensuring shared understanding of charges.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with invoice audit systems and ERP software
Minimum Qualifications:
2 years of experience in invoice auditing transportation or logistics
Strong understanding of freight billing transportation documentation (BOLs PODs) and carrier contracts
Familiarity with transportation claims laws and regulations including the Carmack Amendment
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
Competencies and Skills:
High attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Work Environment:
Office:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to an office environment. Occasionally the employee will be exposed to a warehouse environment and will be required to wear appropriate PPE. Warehouse:While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position requires computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision distance vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Compensation:
RectorSeal has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing salary ranges to ensure we remain competitive. Based on your experience and market position you are paid within the salary range. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the CSWI Board of Directors.
