Job Description

Position Description
TREW is a provider of Automated Equipment Control Systems and Warehouse Software. As an Electrical Engineer III on the Technology and Innovation team you will play a key role in the innovation and development of new products for automated material handling equipment from the concept phase through design programming testing and manufacturing support. Your work will include validation and testing to meet prevailing electrical standards.
You must be selfmotivated dedicated and possess a keen sense of initiative. You must have the ability to easily adapt to changing situations and have a strong technical background in electrical and controls systems. Candidates must have a strong taskbased skillset with a focus on organization timemanagement and prioritization. Candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal and customer service skills plus the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of people at all levels of expertise.
Duties / Responsibilities
Provide training/mentoring of coop personnel and junior engineers on design process system commissioning and department procedures
Perform duties/responsibilities with minimal supervision
Assist with application definition specifications and description of operation documents
Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for electrical product drawings schematics control panel design wire harness drawings and communication architecture diagrams
Use programmable logic controllers for prototype testing
Component selection and bill of material preparation using cost effective reliable products
Coordinate order entry of internal testing components
Design electrical interfaces to devices such as sensors network I/O Motorized Driven Roller (MDR) electric actuators AC motors DC motors and servos
Conduct and approve inhouse factory testing; monitor onsite performance of products installed at the customers facility or in company labs test areas or demonstration areas.
Collaborate with crossfunctional groups to improve product designs for reliability
Participate in design reviews with product teams
Provide continuing support for products including training to downstream customers
Use modeling simulation and testing tools to validate designs
Analyze data to identify trends in component usages performance or product reliability
Assist in development of new product testing by creating or performing test procedures
Required Skills/ Abilities
Ability to multitask and maintain deadlines while ensuring quality
Selfmotivated with the ability to operate independently and with supervision
Must have good organizational and leadership skills
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with MS operating system and Office applications including Word Excel & Outlook
Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
Proficient with 480VAC/600VAC 3phase 120VAC power and 24VDC/48VDC control circuits
Ability to calculate system loads and design panels to accommodate system requirements
Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC/PAC Controllers or similar automation controllers a plus
Ability to design I/O architectures to accommodate system requirements
Knowledge of safety PLCs and safety systems or similar a plus
Knowledge of industrial control systems including PLC and HMI systems
Advanced knowledge of industrial communication networks: Ethernet/IP & ASInterface
Proficient with system layouts schematics and other controls system drawings
Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting using various hand tools and meters.
Knowledge of electrical mechanical and pneumatics
Knowledge of UL508A NFPA70 and NFPA79
Ability to integrate third party manufacturers equipment into standard product designs
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET)
Experience of 57 Years; Internship within material handling industry desired not required
Experience in the material handing/equipment controls industry preferred
Work Environment
Ability to work effectively in a warehouse and/or construction environment for system testing
Climbing ladders and moving around on platforms to maneuver in and around equipment
Flexibility to travel often via air with the ability to travel 10 on a calendar year basis to job sites both domestically and abroad. Travel may include weekends and/or holidays.
Ability to work nontraditional hours that may on occasion include nights weekends and/or holidays
Physical Requirements
Capable of working in a construction site environment (no air conditioning dusty loud etc. and following all site safety rules such as wearing personal protective equipment (hard hats safety shoes hearing protection etc.
Ability to frequently move about the work site to access equipment etc. and remain standing stationary for extended periods of time.
