Job Description:
Working as a Technology Support Administrator this position is responsible for the information technology support planning and design of workstations peripherals and network services; and for providing information technology support for faculty staff research computing and/or students.
The following are primary functions of this job:
Assist in the support and maintenance of the Local Area Network infrastructure and network services.
Install upgrade and support Microsoft Windows operating systems and various industrystandard software packages. Maintain OS upgrades and security patches as required.
Active Directory administration.
Use of system management tools including SCCM.
Install upgrade and support various hardware (i.e. servers workstations laptops and peripherals).
Provide support for distributed file/storage servers and backup systems.
Encrypt workstations for Windows and Mac operating systems.
Research test compare and recommend hardware and software solutions to enhance security and overall performance at the workstation level.
Hire recruit and manage student support staff.
Provide support and training for instructional technology (Smartboards Cisco Telepresence endpoints projectors LCD/LED displays etc..
Design and maintain software images for faculty staff and instructional lab computers.
Provide informal training on the use of software packages and webbased applications.
Consult and advise on the purchase and acquisition of information technology and prepare quotes for hardware software and peripherals as required.
Provide reports as requested (inventory work flow etc..
Provide onsite diagnostics troubleshooting feedback and field testing to network and server administration staff.
Participate in an oncall rotation as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in computer technology or related field. Other areas of study will be considered with relevant experience.
Two years of desktop support in Microsoft and Apple hardware and software environments and mastery Microsoft Windows operating systems
Various industry standard software packages including MS Office suite and Adobe
Wireless networks and clientside networking
Building and deploying images using tools such as MS SCCM
Windows Server administration
Antivirus antispyware and other workstation security products and solutions
Desktop encryption
Active Directory
Remote systems management tools
Peripherals including networked printers and print queues
Conferencing and instructional technology (projectors presentation equipment Cisco Telepresence SmartBoards etc.
Drivers license
Preferred or Beneficial:
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
Mobile device management
Help Desk support tools
Supervision of junior or student employees
Unix based Operating Systems support
Project management work and project management software such as MS Project
Healthcare or higher education experience
