Job Description
This operator position is responsible for the harvest of milk during the first session. The successful candidates responsibilities will include the preparation of the milking equipment and bulk tank milking of cows and cleaning of equipment and milk parlor and assures proper operation of milking and milk storage equipment. The successful candidate is also responsible for the detection of abnormal milk or mastitis and records findings as well as basic maintenance of parlor equipment and some record keeping Additionally the successful candidate will assist with early morning calvings and provides colostrum to the new born as well as maintenance of dry pack barn and assists in feeding of outside livestock and other farm duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Experience of general dairy husbandry and milking procedures; Ability to operate farm equipment; Knowledge of milking and milk equipment; Ability to follow precise research and teaching protocols; Previous experience operating large farm equipment; Ability to perform heavy manual labor handle mature dairy animals and work in adverse conditions; Ability to communicate proper procedures to students.
