Our client in the Automotive Component Manufacturing industry based in Port Elizabeth is currently looking to employ an experienced Metrologist.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years work experience in a factory environment.
A tertiary qualification e.g. National Diploma in Mechanical Engineer or BTech Quality.
Certificate in CMM Measuring / 3D Scanning.
Quality specific training in VDA6.3 IATF16949 Core Tools and CSRs.
Understanding and utilization of PCDMIS CMM Software.
Should have thorough knowledge of the entire plant processes.
Experience with SPC / MSA / APQP / 8D concepts.
Responsibilities. but not limited to:
Create Measuring Programs for measurement of new and existing components.
Provide effective feedback to all relevant departments if dimensional deviations or defects identified.
Prepare APQP / PPAP / ISIR documentation according to Customer requirements.
Participate in problem solving activities FMEA / Control Plan Meetings (Part of APQP).
Conduct Routine testing and Product audits.
Take the lead on Gauging designs approval and also creating work instructions thereof.
Calibration Maintain calibration status of all existing gauges and instruments inclusive of physical verification of instruments in accordance with works instructions as well as all relevant documentation.
Manage external calibration processes.
Draft and follow MSA Plan relative to required R&R studies.
Conduct Capability studies / adhoc measurements as part of investigations; lead investigations into parts not meeting requirements.
Documentation and record Maintain relevant filing systems (including drawings and measuring reports registers and issue levels).
