About the role:
In Samsaras Business Technology Core IT team we work to deliver awesome systems support and experiences that enable our teams to be as impactful as possible. As a member of the team youll be in charge of owning the technology and processes that enable our people to do their best work. We are responsible for identifying designing implementing and supporting the applications to create a streamlined experience for Samsarians. As an IT Automation Engineer on the team you will provide guidance and expertise in code build and release automation CI/CD pipelines overall DevOps methodologies and cloud infrastructure design. You will be driving strategic & missioncritical initiatives technology assessment architecture decisions and building custom solutions by partnering with various technology teams and leaders.
This hybrid position requires 3 days per week in our Bangalore office and 2 days working remotely. This position requires working hours in IST. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

In this role you will:
- Evaluate innovate develop implement and support any variety of internal SaaS Engineering automation systems geared to produce efficiency at scale.
- Design develop and maintain automation scripts in languages like Python Bash Javascript for automating repetitive tasks across platforms and internal systems.
- Develop and deploy new architecture patterns for services that maximize availability security scalability and livability for the supporting team.
- Serve as the domain expert on implementation management and support of Business technology products and IT applications.
- Integrate and implement best practices and DevOps methodologies in every step of the IT engineering process.
- Implement and manage infrastructureascode (IaC) solutions with Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of servers networks and cloud resources.
- Design develop support and manage integrations to internal and external systems as required.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on improvements to systems tools and processes.
- Manage technical requirements gathering technical gap analysis and contribute to backlog grooming.
- Maintain clear and uptodate documentation for all automation processes and tools.
- Champion role model and embed Samsaras cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success Build for the Long Term Adopt a Growth Mindset Be Inclusive Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- 5 years of experience in an IT Automation Engineer or similar role; experience in software development and infrastructure.
- Strong experience working with APIs in Javascript (Node.js) Python or Go.
- Experience creating and maintaining AWS cloud resources and services. Relevant services include Lambda EC2 S3 CloudWatch CloudFormation ECS RDS and API Gateway.
- Exposure to scale in a SaaSfirst IT environment (Google Workspace Okta Slack Zoom Github Zendesk etc).
- Proficient in creating and developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts utilizing industry standard tools like Terraform and/or CloudFormation and building CI/CD processes and pipelines to enable 1click and selfmanaged deployments.
- Progressively related experience in design development and implementation of highly scalable highvolume software systems applications and major SaaS solutions.
- Experience with containerization tools including Docker.
- Solid understanding of source code versioning and exposure to Git GitHub.
- Must be detail oriented selforganized be committed to quality and capable of tracking multiple work streams simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a fastchanging dynamic and agile environment including the ability to manage time and maintain an excellent work ethic.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
- Ability to spearhead and drive work without supervision across functions and collaborate with all levels of users and management.
An ideal candidate also has:
- Developed and managed applications in a team environment.
- Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira Confluence OpsGenie StatusPage).
- Experience with Splunk.
- Expertise with Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform.
