Metros Mobility Division is seeking graduate student Veteran Fellows to work within our Market Innovation Customer Communication & Services Service Development and Contracted Services sections. Metro Mobility has 9 positions to fill.
Who are we looking for Metro Mobility is looking for Veteran Fellows working on a graduate level degree such as a masters or higher or enlisted military experience at grade E4E6 that are interested and excited to gain relevant experience from working for the states largest public transit agency. Candidates should be selfstarters interested in learning about public transit and working for a local government agency dedicated to improving mobility options planning for and offering access to public transit within King County.
Position 1: Research
About the Market Innovation Section: Market Innovation expands the reach of public transportation by breaking barriers and developing new products and services.
The Research Team works to ensure that leaders and teams across Metro have the data and research they need for the design implementation and evaluation of our programs and services. Our work is dynamic and reflects the emerging questions and needs related to mobility program and pilot evaluation and customer and employee experiences.

Position 2: Connecting to Transit
About the Market Innovation Section: Market Innovation expands the reach of public transportation by breaking barriers and developing new products and services.
The Connecting to Transit team works to improve customers access to transit and the larger regional system by creating safe and convenient connections for people to walk roll bike or share rides to transit facilities. Connecting to Transit integrates a range of mobility options at transit facilities by improving access pathways (i.e. safe routes to transit) and transit facilities (i.e. mobility hubs) to increase nonmotorized and zeroemission access mode share and grow ridership.

Position 3: Neighborhood Pop Up Research
About the Customer Communications & Services Section:Metros Customer Communications & Services Section provides direct customer support to transit riders by phone and in person.
The Neighborhood PopUp program provides ORCA transit services and support at events throughout King County. This intern position will conduct and analyze research with partners and customers to align the logistics of where when and how Neighborhood Pop Up events are organized that meet the needs of the community.

About the Service Development Section: Metros Service Development Section is responsible for the planning and Implementation of transit services schedules facilities regional partnerships and performance management.
The System Expansion and Integration team works to support transit system growth by developing and implementing policies and plans improving integration between different services and providers and building out Metros RapidRide system.

Position 5: Service Development Strategic Initiatives
About the Service Development Section:Metros Service Development Section is responsible for the planning and implementation of transit services schedules facilities regional partnerships and performance management.
This position would support the Zero Emissions Team and Service Development Management Team.The Service Development Management Team supports strategic planning across work groups and represents service needs in Metros key initiatives. The Zero Emissions Team is a matrixed crossdivisional team that is leading Metros transition to a zeroemissions fleet.

About the Service Development Section:Metros Service Development Section is responsible for the planning and implementation of transit services schedules facilities regional partnerships and performance management.
The Service Planning Team worksto design and implement bus route changes to the transit network. Service Planning creatively leads the development of transit and mobility solutions for and with the people of King County to ensure easy reliable and attractive transportation that promotes socially equitable and healthy outcomes.

Position 7: Mobility Services
About the Contracted Services Section: Metros Contracted Services Section provides customers with information to access the full potential of Metros transportation choices. This section is responsible for communicating and interfacing with customers and for growing new customers. Contracted Services manages and operates Vanpool Metro Flex Community Van and Community Access programs.
The Community Transportation Services team works to design and implement communitybased mobility options to provide rightsized transportation services where traditional fixed route is not the best fit. Programs range from volunteerdriven vehicles for Community Van to local agency operated services for Community Access Transportation and demand response service for Metro Flex.

Position 8: Alternative Services
About the Contracted Services Section: Metros Contracted Services Section provides customers with information to access the full potential of Metros transportation choices. This section is responsible for communicating and interfacing with customers and for growing new customers. Contracted Services manages and operates Vanpool Metro Flex Community Van and Community Access programs.
The Future of Paratransit team works to support the development and implementation of the future vision for Access Transportation King County Metros ADA Paratransit Service. These efforts are aimed at providing Access riders with a high level of service quality and customer experience while providing a safe and efficient service.

Position 9: Service Information Graphic Designer Intern
About the Customer Communications & Services Section:Metros Customer Communications & Services Section designs produces and manages customerfacing communications that appear on social media buses in print and online.
The Service Information Teamworks to design produce and distribute customer facing communications commonly seen on the bus at bus stops on printed materials/brochures signage and more.

The open house session will be held on:Thursday April 3rd 2025 from 24 p.m. at King Street Center 8th Floor Conference Room at 201 South Jackson Street Seattle WA 98104. Meet a Metro staff member in the lobby to give you access to the elevator and the 8th floor conference room.
Your cover letter should specify your top 3 choices among the eight internship positions described above ranked in order of preference. Your letter should explain why you are interested in working at King County Metro and how you meet the qualifications for the position(s) outlined above. Benefits
Veteran Fellows receive a free ORCA transit pass for unlimited rides on King County Metro and Puget Sound region transit services. These classifications are not eligible for retirement holiday nor vacation pay. Please contact for any additional questions regarding associated benefits.

Telecommuting
With the exception of the Neighborhood Pop Up Position the work associated with these job classifications will be performed through a combination of teleworking complemented with onsite work. The specific mix can be agreed between Veteran Fellow and supervisor. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. This could include working onsite as needed where desk space and an internet connection is provided. The Neighborhood Pop Up Position is inperson and work will be done at King Street Center and other King County facilities.
Candidates must reside in Washington state during the period of this Fellowship. Onsite work is most often completed via shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Unless accomplished via the provided ORCA card commuting to onsite work will be at the expense of the employee.
