LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH Allegany County Health Department Cumberland MD

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Health Officer and Deputy Health Officers for Allegany County the Director of Administrative Services and the Administration Unit in order to assist in carrying out the mission of the Allegany County Health Department (ACHD). This position is required daily to act as intermediary for the Health Officer exercising good judgment courtesy and tact in dealing with the public private executives professional persons and other officials. This position will be responsible for maintaining the Health Officers schedule and scheduling large meetings 1520 people) at Health Officers request. This position will take and type minutes for meetings for example Unit Chiefs Local Health Planning Coalition Board of Health Continuous Quality Improvement and Reaccreditation Meetings and send reminders. This position will be responsible for coordinating meetings and virtual conferences attending meetings and providing minutes for special projects for example ACHD Reaccreditation process. This position will respond to requests for key assignments for new employees contact supervisor to coordinate employee picking up and signing for key. This position will maintain key assignment forms and Excel spreadsheet of key assignments for the health department and conduct physical key review annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a yearforyear basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a noncommissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.

The preferred candidate should possess:
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills with prioritizing work needs.
  • Strong attention to detail by being meticulous organized and accurate when completing work tasks.
  • Time management adaptability and multitasking skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on akeyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required depending on the specific requirements of the position.
