Description:
Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is inviting applications from Psychiatrists to provide 0.5 FTE) psychiatric services in Addiction & General Psychiatry. Flexibility for parttime to fulltime work is available.
AHS is actively recruiting an Addiction trained psychiatrist. In this role the psychiatrist will assess diagnose and treat adult patients with mental illness and substance use disorders in both the outpatient and residential treatment centre setting. In addition the delivery of group treatment for patients with concurrent disorders will be a part of the position. Training in the treatment of opioid use disorders is considered an asset. This is a collaborative practice with a team of psychiatrists addiction counsellors mental health therapists and program staff. This position offers practice in an exceptional team environment with excellent administrative support.
The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and nonclinical duties as a representative of the Department of Psychiatry and is encouraged to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague appointment.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an MD and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry for licensure in the province of Alberta and have additional certification or clinical experience in Addiction Psychiatry.
