Job Description

The Willis Johnson & Associates (WJA) tax team is seeking to add a Senior Tax Associate to its dynamic team of CPAs who provide yearround tax planning and compliance for our clientele. This is a unique opportunity that certainly has aspects of public accounting but offers a broader experience in terms of a lifetime approach to tax planning. The WJA tax team regularly consults with our clients and collaborates with our expert wealth management team to perform yearround tax planning to optimize lifelong tax mitigation. As part of our client service WJA manages taxplanning and the preparation and review of individual trust estate and business tax returns for our clients. We also have clients with international activity which qualifies for the FATCA filing requirements of various forms (e.g. Forms. Because each client is unique and has different needs every day is different at WJA and the learning is continuous. We do not track our time as the tax function is only one part of the greater financial planning service WJA provides for our clients. Essential Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with existing tax team to implement the continuouslyexpanding vision of the tax department of our firm.
  • Prepare and review individual trust estate S corporation partnership and state returns prepared by our team of tax professionals.
  • Participate in high level clientinterfacing activities targeted to build lasting client relationships.
  • Interface with existing tax team to manage tax compliance and yearround tax planning.
  • Perform tax projections for clients in close coordination with the Wealth Management Advisors.
  • Consult on client cases as the inhouse expert for tax projections throughout the year when optimizing Roth conversions selling real estate and other tax sensitive situations.
  • Build models for running different tax scenarios for specific clientrelated situations.
  • Identify and implement procedures to mitigate inefficiencies in the Tax Compliance function.
  • Support inhouse marketing efforts by writing educational articles that are pertinent to clients and prospective clients.
  • Expect longer hours during tax season with lots of flexibility through the rest of the year.

Qualifications

  • CPA or EA license preferred
  • Masters degree in Accountancy preferred.
  • Experience as a tax Senior at a reputable CPA firm required.
  • Two three or more years of public accounting experience with a focus on individual trust and small business returns.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Very detailoriented with an ability to work on several concurrent projects and tax returns.
  • Confident poised and professional in appearance.
  • Ability to take on creative challenges and manage workload on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute to a team environment.
  • Experience in consulting with highnet worth corporate executives trusts and/or small businesses preferred.
  • Experience with states & foreign reporting preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $86000 $104000/year
  • 401(k) plan with opportunity to earn up to 7 the first year and 10 with tenure.
