Job Description

Position Title: Audiology Health Technician

Reports to: Audiologist

Location: New Orleans LA

Employment Status: FullTime

FLSA Status: NonExempt

Position Summary: Aldevra is currently recruiting for a qualified Audiology Health Technician to support the Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital in New Orleans LA. This position is contingent upon contract award.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist audiologists in administering hearing tests and assessments.
  • Prepare and maintain audiology examination rooms and equipment.
  • Clean and sterilize hearing aids and earmolds.
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments and followups.
  • Perform data entry and maintain patient records in the VA electronic systems.
  • Provide basic instruction to patients on hearing aid use and care.
  • Support inventory management of audiology supplies.
  • Follow VA policies regarding patient confidentiality and infection control.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Security Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain government badge.

Workplace Safety and Environment:

This position is based in a clinical audiology environment and may involve direct patient interaction diagnostic procedures and use of specialized audiology equipment. Work is performed in examination rooms sound booths and clinical offices with adherence to infection control protocols safety guidelines and proper equipment handling procedures.


This position requires passing an extensive background check.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant or audiology technician training preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferably audiology.
  • Ability to operate audiology equipment and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with VA electronic health records systems is desirable.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
  • Excellent and accurate written communication
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
  • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry
  • Customer Focused and teamoriented work ethic
  • Able to multitask efficiently and accurately focusing on quality
