Service Technician
Join Acorn Distributors a multimillion dollar distributor of janitorial and foodservice products. We provide expert solutions to the following industries: Education Healthcare Government Lodging Commercial Property Management Restaurants and Catering.
Summary:
Acorn Field Service Technicians maintain troubleshoot and repair equipment and deliver solutions that create a cleaner safer world. Technicians work in the service shop as well as customers facilities and provide top notch quality customer service and communication to minimize costs and ensure satisfaction. Technicians must maintain the proper tools parts and supplies in their service vehicles in order to have the necessary tools on hand to accurately diagnose and solve customers equipment issues. In addition to being able to repair equipment technicians are expected to be able to communicate the equipments operating instructions to customers. Doing so reduces the probability of future visits and makes technicians a valuable asset to customers.

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems on Tennant Clarke and similar competitive products
- Maintain records of all service activities and business reporting documentation by using customer repair order logs service agreements completed repair orders timesheets machine checklists receiving records expense reports and service agreements
- Efficiently manage inventory levels to maximize inventory turns while minimizing return trips to customers
- Properly communicate customer preventative maintenance schedules and future service needs
- Estimate machine repair requirements and prepare necessary data in order to provide an accurate repair quote to the customer

Knowledge Skill & Abilities:
- Must pass a companyinitiated preemployment background check drug screen and Department of Motor Vehicles driving record review and physical
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Safely use hand and power shop tools equipment and diagnostic devices
- Basic understanding and knowledge of how to use a personal computer including MS word email and parts look up procedures
- Understand and manage expenses within the service operation
- Good verbal communication skills customercentric attitude and approach
- Basic estimating and inventory management skills
- The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required
- To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a manner that demonstrates teamwork and honesty

- Must be certified by Acorn Distributors on all equipment as required OSHA within 90 days
Education/Work Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational school coursework a plus
- Minimum of two years work experience including:
- Troubleshooting diagnosing and repairing mobile equipment
- Demonstrated experience working with one or more of the following: mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems air and watercooled combustion engines and dieselgasLP powered engine
- Demonstrated experience working in direct contact with customers on servicerelated activities
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds; may occasionally be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds (assistance should be provided for items weighing over 60 pounds)
- Position requires sitting standing twisting reaching pushing pulling bending stooping kneeling or squatting on a daily basis up to 30 of the day
- Driving van to and from customer sites daily
- Must be able to wear safety glasses
- Must be medically capable of performing all aspects of the job with the maximum amount of safety
