Direct the accounting functions of the organization.
Develops policies and procedures for the accounting area.
Foster teamwork and a performancebased culture with a focus on internal controls customer service and process improvement.
Build trusted relationships with key internal stakeholders.
Conduct ongoing financial analysis and provide recommendations for process improvements.
Plan coordinate and prepare for yearend external audit.
Work to obtain and administer grant awards.
Lead the monthly closing process reviewing revenues expenses and other statistical data and prepare monthly financial statements.
Provide key operational support to the Director of Finance and/or DCFAO/CFAO
Proposes changes and revisions in the accounting operations that may include training guidance assistance review approval and followup as appropriate to the work being performed.
Ensures year end process is reviewed tasks are completed to meet deadline and coordinate with IT to set up reports and close systems.
Reviews Federal State and other applicable regulations and policies Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards to ensure organizational compliance.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Working knowledge of cash management practices personnel management techniques and accounting principles and procedures.
General knowledge of business law and public finance.
General knowledge of techniques of personnel management.
Demonstrated supervisory aptitudes and abilities or strong evidence of the possession of such aptitudes.
Ability to apply accounting principles to the analysis of complex accounting issues.
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting and budget data.
Ability to prepare clear accurate financial statements and reports.
Ability to utilize problemsolving techniques in finding solutions to complex accounting problems.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules regulations policies and procedures.
Make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities and business processes.
Intermediate knowledge level of computer software programs specifically Microsoft Office (Word Excel Access Power Point and Outlook)
Advanced communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of management staff and external clients especially those who are not well versed in computer technology.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse community and organizational groups.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Training & Experience
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting finance business administration economics public administration or a closely related field.
Minimum of eight years experience in progressively responsible financial roles: fiscal management governmental accounting or auditing; including three years experience as a manager or in leadership roles.
Anycombination of extensive and applicable work experience and educational credentials to perform the above duties successfully.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a masters degree in business administration is preferred.
Schedule
The Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between hybrid and onsite as necessary to accomplish LAHSAs business needs.
