Come build your career at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community as a parttime Administrative Assistant for our spirtual life team including our onsite chapels. Nestled on 125 acres in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains Deerfield is an outstanding senior living community with a resortlike atmosphere. At Deerfield spiritual life is an important part of our community and this role is integral to effective administration of our active chapel community of faith.
This role is a 12hour per week position (Tuesday Wednesday Thursday mornings) located onsite with a heavy focus on the following areas of responsibility (as well as other duties that may be assigned):
1 Prepare worship booklets using Microsoft Publisher for Sunday services Memorial Services etc.
2 Correspondence
a) Thank you notes written to all donors to the Chapel
b) Welcome notes to all Sunday morning newcomers/visitors to Chapel
c) Welcome notes written to new Deerfield residents and chapel gift bags delivered
3 Advertising:
a) Write Chapel page(s) for the weekly Deerfield newsletter
b) Design posters for upcoming special chapel events
c) Design weekly email/electronic communications for upcoming chapel services and events
4 General Administration
a) Keep Chapel membership records up to date
b) Manage Chapel website and calendar
c) Keep Memorial Garden records and order new name plaques
5 Assist the Spiritual Life Team
a) correspondence similar to #2 above
b) keep calendar and make appointment phone calls
c) basic research and photocopying for sermon small group and seminar preparations
Prior administrative experience including a high level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Proven success in a servicefocused work environment is crucial and prior experience working within a church environment is ideal. Attention to detail and the ability to provide effective written and verbal communications to residents staff our diocese office and other guests/family members will be key. Strong organizational skills are essential.
