Indiana University is a multicampus multifaceted research institution with worldclass academic programs and the states largest medical school. Supported by research leadership administration and partners around the state IU faculty and their teams carry out research studies experiments and creative activities that make sense of the world around us. The IU Office of the Vice President for Research seeks a Director of Strategic Research Initiatives to play a key role in the strategic planning and implementation process to develop and facilitate research at IU. The incumbent will plan design implement and direct strategies to promote and facilitate interdisciplinary complex highvalue research collaborations among faculty departments schools centers and institutions across all campuses. The Director has the responsibility to identify and direct the development of new research initiatives of broad impact to the university; track understand and implement strategies to utilize Federal State and University research policies and procedures; and advise on idea development initiate contacts coordinate emerging initiatives and provide support in their realization. The incumbent will direct staff in administering systemwide internal grant and support programs; University responses to competitive national and state award/grant programs; and research initiatives such as Grand Challenges New Frontiers and the IU Collaborative Research Grant awards. The Director will have responsibility to stimulate partnerships among crossdisciplinary and crosscampus faculty researchers schools and units and foster relationships with academic and administrative units across the university as well as external partners.
