JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a fulltime 48week Assistant Research Professor position in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
We are specifically interested in candidates with expertise in the study of sleep as predictor and outcome of parentchild relationships and socioemotional and cognitive development in infancy and early childhood. These are particularly important areas of focus in the Departments core areas of Individual Development/Lifespan and Family Science. Although we are open to a broad array of candidate backgrounds we are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in infant and early child development sleep measurement assessments of parenting quality and parenting practices and data analytic methods that can be used to characterize developmental change across multiple time scales. Specific competencies critical to success include productivity in highly visible peerreviewed publication outlets and the ability to secure external funding to support an independent selfinitiated research this faculty hire is conceptualized as a full research position there could be opportunities for this faculty member to teach and mentor graduate students if desired. Applicants must have a Ph.D. at the point of hire.

HDFS is a dynamic multidisciplinary and collaborative department committed to excellence innovation and impact in understanding and improving the lives of individuals and families in diverse contexts. The successful faculty member will have opportunities to collaborate with the Departments superb group of research methodologists with expertise in prevention/intervention trial design administrative/intensive longitudinal data analysis and withinperson/withinfamily methods that assess analyze and interpret daily and realtime information about ongoing individualenvironment interactions. HDFS has extensive links with key College and University Centers of Excellence networks and Institutes that provide research infrastructure and extensive collaboration opportunities including the Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center the EvidenceBased Prevention and Intervention Support Center (EPISCenter the Child Study Center the Quantitative Developmental Systems Core the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network the Population Research Institute the Center for Healthy Aging the Penn State Addiction Center for Translation Penn States Administrative Data Accelerator ; and the Social Life and Engineering Sciences Imaging Center .
