About the role
Forter is seeking a Staff Engineer passionate about building scalable resilient systems and driving impact through technology. Join us as we evolve a key product in our portfolio and take a leading role in shaping our Chargeback Coverage & Resolution solution one of Forters standout market offerings.
Chargebacks serve as a consumer protection mechanism allowing people to reclaim funds for fraudulent charges or disputed purchases. However this system is often exploited by bad actors engaging in fraudulent activities that harm the businesses behind the products you love. Our Dispute Group is dedicated to safeguarding these companies using innovative technology to combat chargeback abuse and protect their growth.

What youll be doing:

Check out some past and upcoming projects to see the type of work we do
- Develop a fully automated dispute platform to prevent deflect and recover chargebacks to reduce revenue loss. The system will support generating millions of dollars in yearly revenue remove friction and streamline obsolete operational processes.
- Build and maintain a highly performant scalable chargeback management system originating from various input sources and reporting at changing rates.
- Define and optimize the scale reliability observability and SLOs of the chargeback management platform.
What youll need:
- 7 years of experience building and maintaining complex backend systems using modern programming languages preferably with Node.js and TypeScript experience.
- 2 years of experience as a tech lead/architect/team lead.
- Passion and experience overseeing a products entire lifecycle and learning from our customers.
- Experience designing and working with largescale distributed systems.
- Strive to uphold topnotch software engineering practices such as highquality code thorough testing and clear & comprehensive documentation.
- Promote production product and growth mindsets.
- Project management experience.
- Strong communication skills including stakeholder management.
- Significant experience with various data stores and pipelines such as Kafka Redis ElasticSearch and MySQL.
- Experience with AWS or other public clouds.
