Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer with deep Salesforce Development and Admin experience who can also help other team members troubleshoot any Git and DevOps related issues. At PointClickCare you need to be a stellar accountable team player with a continuous learning mindset and understand what it means to be a member of a high performing team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Application Operations Engineering the Senior Application Engineer brings over 5 years of experience and knowledge designing developing and maintaining configuration and custom applications that integrate with core applications like Salesforce or NetSuite and any connected apps and they are very familiar with versioning systems like GitHub and Salesforce DevOps pipelines and tools like Copado.
To succeed as a Senior Application Engineer at PointClickCare you have the experience of utilizing your skills without guidance you are highly autonomous and comfortable coaching others on the team. You will debug standard to complex issues related to the applications you are developing for or for your team. As the Senior Application Engineer you will also be involved in the development of technical documentation managing our DevOps pipeline onboarding and training team members peer reviewing builds developed by other team members at the same level or lower level. You will provide training and consultation related to the systems and processes developed by the ESA team for our business partners and support both transformational projects high priority enhancements and resolve standard to high complexity incidents to quickly deliver value to the business.
What your daytoday will look like
Own and troubleshoot the DevOps pipeline(s) for Salesforce and connected apps. We use Copado for DevOps.
Be the goto person for troubleshooting Git issues be a GitHub expert user.
Execute standard to complex tasks in the application development life cycle using languages like Apex JavaScript SuiteScript Python etc. etc. relevant to the core applications (Salesforce NetSuite Billing Platform etc. and connected or integrated apps so familiarity with the following apps is highly desired: Kantata Conga Gainsight Qualtrics Gong TaskRay Adobe Quip Marketo LeanData OmniStudio Revenue Cloud CPQ etc.
Identify and lead opportunities to mature DevOps processes across our teams and improve the pipeline (s).
Onboard and coach Junior Intermediate application engineers and your peers including peer reviewing their work providing feedback approving pull requests and providing guidance as needed.
Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting including working with the Test Lead to build and enhance our automated test scripts.
Perform unit tests for your builds and collaborate with BAs and Test Lead to create accurate and quality test scripts.
Analyze troubleshoot and debug systems for standard issues
Exercise independent judgement in methods techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and solving standard to complex problems in the development pipeline.
Be an AI collaborator in your team to gain team buyin for adopting use of AI agents to save time reduce waste and improve efficiency to deliver value to customers faster
Provide standard consultations for business partners solution design and implementation in business departments following application bestpractices and leveraging the maximum benefit from systems while minimizing customizations and technical debt.
Create and maintain technical documentation for all builds produced
Collaborate with business analysts endusers and other stakeholders to refine and understand business requirements.
Groom tickets in preparation for sprint planning
Actively monitor and resolve technical debt
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications we are looking for
Solid Experience writing clean code that performs well at scale using Apex JavaScript etc
Solid Experience with Salesforce integrations and external system integrations
Expert in DevOps processes and tools like Copado
Expert understanding of Git (GITHUB) and troubleshooting standard versioning and DevOps issues
Proficient in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) to iteratively deliver standard solutions
Solid experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g. PMD Copado CRT)
Indepth understanding of Salesforce data models security and governor limits
Excellent organization criticalthinking and selfmanagement skills
A continuous learner you must enjoy acquiring and sharing knowledge and wisdom with others
Solid Team player and coach to partner with crossfunctional teams and other areas of practice like BA QA & Operations
Communicates standard complex ideas anticipates potential objections and persuades others often at team level to adopt a different point of view
Proven experience as a great Intermediate Application Engineer
Certifications:
Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I & II (required)
Salesforce Advanced Administrator certification (required)
Salesforce Certified Application/Systems Architect (desired)
Copado Fundamentals Certifications (desired)
BSc/BA in Computer Science Engineering or a related field or equivalent work experience
Bonus points for:
Experience working on a SaaS product
Experience with Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) or other UI frameworks like React Vue.js or Angular Standard understanding of Salesforce Sales Cloud Service Cloud Revenue Cloud Agentforce and Salesforce Einstein
Experience working with AWS Azure or other cloud platforms.
Experience working with ServiceOriented Architecture (SOA) and SaaS product development
Knowledge of SAML OAuth and OpenID Connect for authentication and authorization
Experience with oncall responsibilities for productiongrade systems.
