Work Schedule: MonFri 4 10 hour shifts 6:30am to 5:15pm availability to stay late and finish EP cases
Assists the physician with electrophysiology (EP) testing including ablation and cardiac rhythm management (CRM) device implantation to facilitate patient care.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Coordinate procedures with vendors physicians and facility.
- Determine supply needs based on patient diagnosis and provider preferences.
- Work with internal departments to ensure skills of all those performing the procedure are up to date.
Assist the physician with electrophysiology (EP) testing including ablation and CRM device implantation to facilitate patient care by preparing & monitoring patient readying supplies medications and equipment and assisting according to physician instruction.
- Prepare for case according to Physician Preference Card.
- Anticipate EP team members needs and prepares all equipment.
- Handle medications and/or specimens.
- Ensure rooms are ready for the next procedure within specified timeframes.
Perform all electrophysiology (EP) procedures under the direction of the physician to obtain relevant information pertinent to the patients needs and mode of treatment utilizing equipment for programmed electrical stimulation and catheter ablation.
- Perform above procedure under direct physician supervision and in accordance with hospital policy.
- Obtain updated technical information on ICDs and pacemakers to stay current with technology changes.
- Work with all explant devices for proper reimbursement to patient accounts.
- Perform pacemaker and Internal Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) interrogation and reprogramming under supervision or direction of EP provider.
Provide age appropriate care to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.
Coordinate with Service Leader and Nursing Coordinator regularly.
- Evaluate new equipment.
- Actively participates with value analysis team.
- Responsible for first line communication with interdisciplinary teams (i.e. BioMed maintenance IT Medical records and billing.
- Serve as a role model for unit staff through expert knowledge and application of processes and critical thinking skills (Quality of Care Image of Nursing).
- Act as a change agent to improve outcomes and promote professional growth by initiation adoption and adaption to change (i.e. new procedures or providers).
- Coordinate orientation of all new employees to Electrophysiology (EP) Lab in a timely manner; assist primary preceptor in validating competence with EP procedures.
- Assess daily routines of staff to promote patient safety.
- Available as clinical expert in the delivery of patient care.
- Support and promote interdisciplinary resources.

Job Requirements
Education
- A degree in Medical Radiography required.
- Successful completion of an advanced Cardiac Dysrhythmia course.
Experience
- Experience with implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) & pacemaker interrogation & reprogramming preferred.
- Minimum 2 years experience in an Electrophysiology Lab required.
License/Certifications
- Current Nebraska Medical Radiographer (Rad.St) required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) credential in Radiography (R) required.
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) preferred.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire required within 3 months of hire.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required.
- Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) preferred.
- Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) Certification preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients family members hospital personnel and coworkers.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments.
- Ability to learn retain and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.
