Join Our Team as a Machine Builder (Contract) at Johnson Electric!

Location:Ancaster ON (onsite)

Duration: Contract

As our next Machine Builder (Contract) youll be at the forefront of building and assembling specialpurpose machinery. Your expertise in automation and machine assembly will be crucial in driving our success and pushing the boundaries of whats possible. This role is also ideal for those between jobs semiretired/retired.

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings schematics and bills of materials.
  • Fabricate and machine basic metal components and assemblies as required.
  • Fit and assemble parts and subassemblies to build specialpurpose machinery.
  • Integrate pneumatic and hydraulic systems into specialpurpose machinery.
  • Coordinate with the Electrician and PLC Programmer to provide for their needs in a timely manner.
  • Conduct test runs with completed equipment to ensure parts meet specifications and make adjustments if necessary.
  • Ensuring the adherence to ISO 45001 ISO 14001 IATF 16949 ISO 9001 all policies and any other industry standards in all activities.
  • Provide mechanical support during debug integration and machine acceptance.
  • Reassemble equipment to the point of buyoff at the customers site and train maintenance and operators on running equipment and following safety procedures.
  • Verify conformance of manufactured parts to specifications using measuring instruments such as scales calipers micrometers and fixed gauges.
  • Attend design reviews as required.
  • Assists with Continuous Improvement Projects.
  • Recommend design changes to parts with regard to improving manufacturing assembly and maintenance processes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of personal work areas and job zones.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives.

What Were Looking For:

  • 35 years experience in machine assembly preferably with machining skills ability to set up machines and make adjustments building with specs.
  • Relevant background experience in automation i.e. robotics conveyors is helpful.
  • Millwrights experience is welcome.
  • Tool and Die experience is welcome.
  • Experience with rigging/lifting techniques helpful.
  • Comfortable with working a fixed term position of approximately 8 months.
  • Fabricating skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision instruments (Imperial and Metric).
  • Ability to read and interpret pneumatic schematics.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word Excel Outlook) required.
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime including weekends as required.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
