Day 08 Hour (United States of America)

Position: Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Location: Emeryville and Pleasanton CA clinics Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and driven Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing team as an Orthopedic Foot and Ankle APP. This position will support a new busy orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon in providing exceptional patient care in both clinical and operating room settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong orthopedic background previous experience in foot and ankle surgery and a passion for delivering highquality care to patients.

Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive physical exams and assessments on patients
Develop treatment plans and provide ongoing patient management in collaboration with the supervising surgeon
Perform minor surgical procedures under the supervision of the surgeon
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures
Educate patients on treatment plans medications and postoperative care
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a seamless and coordinated patient experience
Document all patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records

Requirements:
Current Advanced Practice Provider license in the state of California
Masters degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner studies
Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with patients colleagues and other healthcare professionals in a professional and compassionate manner

Work Schedule: This is a fulltime position Monday to Friday with no nights or weekends required. This schedule allows for a healthy worklife balance and allows our team to focus on providing the best patient care possible.

A Brief Overview
The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions pertaining to the Service Clinic or Department are established by the PA and his/her supervising physician(s) and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators the IDPC the Credentials & Privileges Committee the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee and the SHC Board Credentials Policies and Procedures Committee.

What you will do
  • Evaluates and treats patients with acute chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty.
  • Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients.
  • Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient.
  • Administers medications according to the formulary protocol or upon patientspecific approval from the supervising physician or transmits orally or in writing on a patients record a prescription from the supervising physician to a person who may furnish such medication. All controlled substances in Schedules IIV inclusive require a patientspecific approval by a supervising physician in advance of transmittal of the order or administration of the medication see Standardized Procedure: Administering Ordering Furnishing or Prescribing of ; Formulary Protocol.
  • Orders and collects specimens for routine laboratory tests screening procedures and therapeutic procedures including blood and blood products.
  • Orders physical therapy occupational therapy respiratory therapy radiology examinations and nursing services.
  • Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency according to written standardized procedures where applicable.
  • Obtains informed consent as indicated.
  • Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.
  • As directed by the supervising physician enrolls patients in investigational studies approved by the Investigational Review Board (IRB) and orders the necessary tests and medications. see Standardized Procedure: Administering Ordering Furnishing or Prescribing of ; Formulary Protocol Medications that are not FDAapproved or are used for a nonFDA approved indication (offlabel use) require a patientspecific order in advance from the supervising physician.
  • After appropriate training assists the supervising physician in the operating room (OR).
  • Acts as first or second assistant under the supervision of an approved supervising physician.
  • Performs surgical procedures in the personal presence of the supervising physician.
  • Recognizes and considers agespecific needs of patients.
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with patients families staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
  • Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician and initiates lifesaving procedures when necessary.
  • Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.
  • Facilitates collaboration between providers and coordination of community resources.
  • Ensures compliance with legal regulatory and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provides and coordinates patient teaching and counseling.

Education Qualifications
  • 1. Bachelors degree or above from an accredited college or university.
  • Note: PAs hired prior to July 1 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement Graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant Inc.

Licenses and Certifications
  • PA Physician Assistant State Licensure and
  • BLS Basic Life Support and
  • DEA Drug Enforcement Administration

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $86.41 $114.50 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
