POSITION TITLE:Evening Resident Advisor

REPORTS TO:Direct Service Manager

LOCATION:Bainbridge Shelter (Bronx)

Job Summary

The Older Female Program is seeking an Evening Resident Advisor (RA) provides supportive services to 20 single young women identified as ages 2124 at a shelter site in the Bronx funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development. Reporting to the shelter sites program coordinator the RA is an energetic creative and diligent team member including case managers and specialty support staff. RAs will be expected to participate in training and implementation activities for evidencebased and other proven models that will be utilized.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)

Youth Engagement and Program Support

  • Directly engages supervises and supports youth residing at the Older Females shelter site providing support motivation and encouragement when needed.
  • Ensures that the site including youths rooms is clean and kept in a good and safe condition.
  • Assists youth in achieving their shelter goals: assesses and addresses any immediate trauma experienced by the young female seeking shelter and assists clients in obtaining their goals.
  • Welcomes the young femaleidentified to the site and orients them to site expectations CHNYs mission and principles and child protection policies and protocols.
  • Assists young females identified with preparation for the day. Ensures the young femaleidentified are awake out of bed fed and promptly on their way to work school or other activities.
  • Provides support to Case Managers as needed including distributing appointment slips appointment followup paperwork collection and filing file maintenance and file compliance.
  • Maintains records in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) computer system and enters all required documentation timely.
  • Escorts young femaleidentified to other agencies and services when necessary (e.g. hospitals school visits) when feasible.
  • Maintains healthy supportive relationships with the young femaleidentified mindful of boundaries and mutual respect.
  • Leads and/or participates in recreational and holiday activities at the site and offsite trips.
  • Complete incident reports by the end of the shift and submit them to appropriate parties.
  • Deescalates crises; attends to emergencies following agency protocol.
  • Ensures safety by utilizing security training throughout their shifts including searching belongings and rooms.
  • Works as a collaborative team member ensuring that all young men have access to highquality services and are living in a safe and compassionate community.
  • Participates in regular case conferences. Ensures team members are fully apprised of important information.
  • Actively participates in staff team meetings individual supervision meetings and meetings with the young men.
  • Assists with audit preparation and dry and live audits of the program.

SALARY: $19.23/hr

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School/GED with three or more years of relevant work experience required. Bachelors Degree Preferred.
  • Experience working with atrisk/homeless young females is strongly preferred; interest in working with this population is required.
  • 8hour security license required (Covenant House will provide to candidates who accept employment and do not have this licensure)
  • Drivers license preferredcomfortability driving a 7passenger van a plus.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong multitasking skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once required.
  • Excellent verbal written and problemsolving abilities willingness and ability to move throughout the day and an upbeat creative and fun demeanor are required.
  • A strong focus on child protection and ensuring the safety of residents is required.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment where processes and protocols are being developed and refined as the program operates.
  • Overall flexibility in work schedule required including weekends and holidays if needed.
